Havasu Falls

Mike went on a boys trip last week with his dad and a few other guys to Havasu Falls, falls in the Grand Canyon. They started off their trip by visiting the Glass Brige and Hoover Dam. The boys hiked down into the Grand Canyon 10 miles to reach this. The pictures describe the rest.

What an adventure. I'm glad he made it back alive!

The Yard :)

Okay, so people have been reminding me that I forgot to post a picture of my yard. Now, for all of you family and friends that do NOT live in Las Vegas, let me tell you a few things.
Vegas has VERY small yards and often people just have a 10 ft deep yard of just rocks and a brick wall behind. So, this is why we were SO excited to have a yard that's 35-40 ft deep. We have concrete going across the whole back of our house and got this 15 by 20 turf section, 2 trees, and 10 plants. All the trees and plants are tiny, but they'll grow :)

Mike is wishing we got a putting green in the back. Next house honey :) Mike likes me to record his golf swing...below is a clip showing my fear that Mike is going to take divots out of our precious turf! haha.

35...are you SERIOUS?

Okay, I need to give a shout out to my little brother who is apparently a genius. Steven, a junior in high school just got a 35 on his ACTs.

35

Yes, that's right. For those of you wondering, "wait isn't a 36 a perfect score...Angela's little brother must be amazing" you are RIGHT. So right in fact, that a score of 35 would make Steven in the TOP 25 % of students attending Harvard.

Harvard.

I am not even close to that. So, congratulations Steven on not only being the coolest younger brother, but ALSO being the SMARTEST little brother.

Go Steve-O. We are proud of you!

The long awaited...PICTURES!

My home :)This gives you an idea of the general layout of the downstairs (picture taken from steps). This is a portion of the main room, dining area and little opening view into the kitchen. This is our accent wall (blueish-greenish-grayish :) of tin pail for short (sharon haha)).

We are getting plantation shutters on 2 windows downstais, on left of picture. I promise our couches don't blend into the carpet like it looks in this picture.Another view of the main room downstairs. Note the cute stair rails on the left. Coming soon: white plantation shutters :)The dining area. The blue, green and brown are carried throughout the whole downstairs. We just got those coordinating pictures...love them. The fruit baskets in the back now have brown towels in them with fruit. Excuse the mess. This is our beautiful kitchen. Mike and I got green and blue plates and it was Mike's idea to get BOTH colors in BOTH square and round. He apparently has a better design sense than me because the cashier person loved it. I wasn't sure, but I like it now too.Another view of the kitchen before we moved in. Our loft, my favorite. We have little ledges on the right as well. We bought a new desk with a couple of drawers to eliminate the need for a study. I am planning on adding cornices to the windows here and downstairs. Note: brown accent wall
Bedroom...we also did an accent wall in here. The ceiling goess really high on the left, so it was REALLY hard. I am planning on adding red curtains to the windows left of the dresser. I wanted to change the bedding, but funds are quickly depleting :)

Bedrooms 2 &3 aren't that exciting since we haven't done anything too them. They will be future rooms for babies, guest rooms, exercise equip...who knows!

This is for my mom and sisters. They know I LOVE LOVE LOVE mini things. The picture I'm holding is a MINI version I found of the one in our loft (see right of loft picture). I laughed with pure joy when I saw this and HAD to take a picture.

So, it's a work in progress...but I hope you like it :) If you have any design suggestions, please let me know!

Pictures...

Okay, I want to put up pictures, but I need my house not look like a moving truck first! So, I will try and take a couple pictures of my house/ paint that don't make it look like a disaster.

PS we are getting blinds in the next few weeks (white 2 in), but downstairs we are getting plantation shutters. They are going to look awesome!

Paint?!

Closing went well, accept for the fact that Mike was so nervous that he wasn't actually listening to anything the lady said and she ended up having to repeat herself 3 times. In addition, since he was a little spacy, he kept forgetting to sign the papers where he was supposed to. haha. It's okay though because we are DONE and we have the house.

On to paint...

I went to bed at 2 last night and was at work today at 8:30 (okay, it was 8:38, I am usually a little late). Why, you ask? Because Mike and I painted our wall on Tuesday, only for me to decide on Wednesday throughout work that I hated the color. It was supposed to be a rich green and ended up looking mint! No no no.

So, yesterday I told Mike we were switching it to the darker bolder color (grayish-blueish-greenish) we originally wanted. A Home Depot run, $60, and hours later, I have a wall that I LOVE.

So worth it.

While you were out

As many of you know, my husband has left me this weekend...for the NCAA basketball Final Four and Championship game. I know, life is tough right? Well, I'm not your typical girl that enjoys getting alone time...I would much rather prefer to have Mike with me. He's my source of entertainment I guess you could say. Without him, I don't really know what to do...
Luckily, General Conference was this weekend...so I had 8 filled hours to help take my mind off of Mike being gone. While in the spiritual state of mind, I decided to watch The Testament (movie about people in Americas during Christ's life, Christ appearing to Americas after resurrection

Now, I have to go into detail about me watching The Testaments. I am sitting here in my house, by myself, and I am crying my eyes out at multiple parts in the movie (when they show Christ's death, and when Jesus appears to the people in the Americas). I felt a little silly doing this by myself...but, it was quite the contemplative, spiritual and thought-provoking weekend as I had just watched 8 hours of conference and then this movie.

Is it just me, or do you like crying? haha, well, not necessarily crying but being in situations where you feel the awe, amazement, gratitude, and your emotions overwhelm you. As a teenager, I used to look forward to these intense spiritual and uplifting situations like Youth Conference, Girls Camp, weddings etc. I actually tried campaigning for a calling in Young Women's JUST to attend things like these during the summer. It just feels good to get emotional sometimes...it must just be because I'm a girl.

So, I'd just like to take a moment to express my feelings tonight. I am so grateful for my knowledge of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in these days. Jesus Christ is our Savior. He lives. I know we have a prophet on the earth, Thomas Monson. I sustain him and I feel so blessed that God's voice can be and IS heard today. He speaks now, not just a long time ago. My heart is full right now for my family. I have the most wonderful parents that have taught me to love, have a testimony and true knowledge of who I am: a child of God. My brothers and sisters are my most favorite people in the world. There is no better feeling than being with my family and just laughing and enjoying each other. My husband Mike is everything to me. As we come up on 3 years of marriage...my love for him only grows. Each day he becomes more precious to me. It's amazing how the heart grows and expands in love. There is no cap on love and right now, I feel such immense love for all these people in my life.

Wow, that's my girlie, emotional blog post. haha. The end.

Allergies...in Vegas?

(What's wrong with this picture? This young girl is suffering from allergies, BUT she is also surrounded by a beautiful field of flowers...for this to be accurate for me...this girl would need to be sneezing while surrounded by rocks, fake grass, and shrubs. hmmmm....make sense? I think not.)

I'm in Las Vegas, and I am suffering from ALLERGIES. Yes, allergies. I know you all are thinking, how do you have allergies when NOTHING grows in Las Vegas? Good question. I have been asking that same questions myself for the past couple weeks as I wake up every morning with red, dry, puffy eyes.

I lived inVirginia my whole life and never had problems with allergies. If you haven't been to VA, it is overwhelmingly green and filled with plants, flowers and all sorts of nightmares for allergy-prone humans. Vegas on the other hand has very few plants, flowers and trees and even sets restrictions for the amount of grass you are allowed to have in your yard (%40 in back yard, none in front and sides).

So, you can see why I have been so surprised to find my eyes all red and swollen for the past 2 weeks. I even had a kind co worker tell me,

"What's wrong with your eyes...it lookes like you are high."

To which I relplied,

"Shouldn't you be saying, 'Angela, what a beautiful outfit. You looks so cute today!"

haha. Oh well. If any of you have contacts and have suffered from allergies, you KNOW what I'm talk about. My dry eyes make it so my contacts dry out, which in turn causes them to fog up when I don't blink every 2 seconds. I then sit there and ajust my contacts and roll my eyes around to get the moisture, but then I get a headache from all the eye movement.

I am seriously considering laser eye surgery!

(*I move into my house in one week! No, I still haven't packed yet :) )
