Love

I love this time of year. I've been excited for Christmas since about June. This year is our first Christmas with a baby of our own, and it makes it 20 times more fun. The morning after I set up for Christmas, Colton's eyes darted around everywhere with excitement to see all the new decorations. He just sits there and stares at the tree all lit up. I love it.

So bring on the cookies. hot chocolate. christmas lights. presents. music. nativity scenes. cards. bring it all on!

What?

The following conversation occurred today at the Dr. office between me and the receptionist:

Receptionist: "Aw, your baby is so cute."
Me: "Thank you, he's my big boy."
Receptionist: "What nationality is he?"
Me: "What?...him?" pointing at my child with a confused face.
Receptionist: "Yeah, he looks like he has some other nationality in him."
Me: "Uhhh...white and white, his dad is a red head and I'm blonde. We are both as white looking as they come."
Me continuing: "What nationality did you think he had in him?"
Receptionist: "I don't know exactly...something different."

WHAT? haha. What ELSE could be in him? Does he look part Hawaiian, Asian, Hispanic, Black? That conversation was a first (and probably last). haha.
and just because...here is a picture of what Colton has looked like recently (taken a couple mo. ago). 4 teeth in 4 weeks, and no mobility/crawling yet will do that do a baby.

I have one

I have a ticket! A ticket to see New Moon this weekend. I never see movies, they cost too much...but a bunch of girls from my ward are going to see it so I figured might as well. It should be fun.

Maybe I should go out and buy a Team Edward shirt and vampire teeth...and scream and jump up and down when Edward comes on the screen...just kidding :)

I hope it's worth the money!

Hate

Hate is a strong word. But, it is the way I feel about daylight savings. I mentioned a few days after daylight savings that Colton was waking up way early. 2 weeks past the switch, Colton has shown NO signs of improvement or adjusting.

Today- wake up time: 5:10 am
Yesterday- wake up time: 6:20 am
The day before- wake up time: 6:00 am

This is coming from the kid that usually slept until 7 or 8.

HELP! I am NOT a morning person. Advise please?

My First Project!

I finished my first actual sewing project today, and I LOVE IT! I never knew I could be so excited about a stocking. Here is Colton's Christmas stocking, complete with: outside fabric, batting, AND lining...cuff...and cute decorations with some embroidery. And I made up the pattern all by myself.
You like it? (I am very proud of myself if you couldn't tell, so don't tell me that you don't like it...or else)

Close up of the fabric and cute star (note the basic embroidery)
The lining (it even has little white stars on it). Isn't the stocking so perfectly fluffy?
Love love love it. I had so much fun making it. Only problem is, now I want coordinating ones for me and Mike...

Stupid

Daylight Savings is stupid. Here are the top 3 reasons I hate the hour change:

1. Colton now wakes up at 5:55 am every day (one hour EARLIER), but still goes to bed at 7:30 pm. Tell me how that works.

2. It is pitch black here by 5. Five! Not cool.

3. Colton is super fussy in the evenings. I mean non-stop whining. I've resorted to taking him on walks outside in the pitch black.

Do children EVER adjust to the time change?
