In Love

I am in love with these family pictures we got done a few weeks ago! It was a little windy, so my hair is a little all over...but all in all I think these pictures turned out perfectly and really captured Colton's personality. Enjoy!

Project #2

I just completed my second building project (from I'm kinda obsessed with building these days.

Project #2: Toy Shelf for Colton's toys. I followed these plans (builds you 2 shelves for $60 in lumber).

STEP 1: Buy lumber from Home Depot
STEP 2: Get lumber cut at Home Depot
STEP 3: Build bookshelf with nail gun, wood glue
STEP 4: Fill nail holes and sand down
STEP 5: Prime and paint bookshelf (I used Behr paint and primer in one)
STEP 5: Paint 2-3 polycrylic coats for protection
...and you're done!
So, for $24 in lumber, plus $27 in finishing supplies...I have a $51 bookshelf (warning...I spent as much on the baskets as I did on the shelf :) But aren't they beautiful? haha )

Hope you like it! Once Colton gets more toys and needs a toy room, I'll have the other shelf and put 2 against a wall. I already bought the other matching baskets.

Okay, the whole vaccine issue with babies totally stresses me out. Don't get me wrong, I feel vaccines are very good since they prevent terrible diseases, and I definitely don't think doctors are evil for giving vaccines. However, I'm not convinced the way they are administered and the timetable they have set for babies is the safest.

I didn't really think about it too much until Colton was in physical therapy for a few months and I got talking to a lot of the moms. A TON of moms were there with their autistic children, and I asked them questions and listened to their stories. Let's just say it was enough to make me nervous and now I can't get it out of my head.
So, here is my dilemma. Colton is 16 months old and hasn't received his 12 month MMR vaccine. We fly to Virginia in 2.5 weeks (lots of germs on those plans). Do I get him the vaccine before we go so he is immune , or continue to delay it until he's a little older and subject him to all the airplane germs? When SHOULD I give him the MMR vaccine?
(note: I've checked, and no one in Vegas offers splitting the MMR vaccine. It all has to be taken together)

If you were to ask me 3 months ago when my child turned one and couldn't even ROLL over, if this day would ever come...I would tell you no. And here we are, Colton is walking! It's an awesome thing to witness and he looks so cute doing it. As he walks around he even sometimes babbles "walk walk walk walk" with each step. He is quite pleased with are we.

I happened to catch is veeerrryyy first steps on camera last week. Here they are:
(*his reaction to EACH step is great, and I'm pretty much flipping out the whole time. His motivation for walking forward was to see the dog on the Baby Einstein movie)

One week later and he's a total pro. Here he is walking, turning, making baskets... I love it:
